A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for American Samoa’s coastal waters out to 40 nautical miles, including the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa. - Today through Wednesday: east winds are about 15 knots and seas are 6 to 8 feet, with scattered showers. - Seas and winds are gradually subsiding through the forecast period, but a large south-southwest swell is expected to reach shore by Saturday. Mount Alava and Fatifati trails closed
The Mount Alava Trail and the Fatifati Trail from Fagasa Pass to the summit are closed until further notice for trail improvement work. - Visitors can reach the Alava Trail from the Old Vatia Trail, but that route is a much steeper and more rugged climb. - Suggested alternatives are the Upper and Lower Sauma Trails and the Tuafanua Trail.
