Denali Park Road Buses Stop at Mile 43
Transit and tour buses stop at East Fork Bridge (Mile 43) because the Pretty Rocks Landslide has closed the Denali Park Road at Mile 43. - This restriction applies through the 2026 summer season; the last day buses operate is September 17, 2026. Full bus service along the road is expected to resume in 2027. - Eielson Visitor Center and Wonder Lake Campground are closed because of the landslide-related road closure; other visitor-center facilities and services are not impacted by the landslide. - Since August 27, 2026, hikers and cyclists may travel west of Mile 43 and cross the Pretty Rocks Bridge, but should expect limited emergency response, prolonged delays, and no services. Be self-sufficient. - Check bus schedules ahead of time and avoid waiting for the last bus. After 5 p.m., buses departing East Fork may have no space for bikes; cyclists should be prepared to bike the full 43 miles (69 km) back to the park entrance. - Watch for traffic and heavy equipment because crews are working on road repairs and deferred maintenance west of Pretty Rocks. Outhouses are available at East Fork (Mile 43.3), Polychrome Overlook (Mile 45.9), and Toklat Rest Area (Mile 53.5); there are no restrooms beyond Toklat. Check current park conditions before traveling.Official details
