Grand Canyon alerts

Do not enter the closed trails, bridges, campgrounds, and inner-canyon areas.

• Inner Canyon: Bright Angel Trail is closed between Mile-and-a-Half Resthouse and Havasupai Gardens; South Kaibab Trail is closed below Tip-Off; River Trail is closed east of River Resthouse to the South Kaibab Trail junction; Black and Silver Bridges are closed; Phantom Ranch (including Bright Angel Campground, Canteen, and cabins) is closed; North Kaibab Trail is closed from its trailhead to Phantom Ranch, including Cottonwood Campground; and Boat Beach is closed to all activities except emergencies and brief scouting of the new rapid at the mouth of Bright Angel Creek. These closures are due to hazardous conditions caused by flash flooding and allow damage assessments, repairs, and stabilization; significant flash flooding in Bright Angel Canyon caused the North Kaibab Trail closure. There is no estimated reopening.
• North Rim: Closed are North Kaibab Trail; Bright Angel Point, Widforss, Transept, Uncle Jim, Cape Royal, Cliff Springs, Cape Final, Roosevelt Point, and Point Imperial trails; Ken Patrick Trail west between North Kaibab Trailhead and Cape Royal Road, and east between Point Imperial and Cape Royal Road; and Arizona Trail between North Kaibab Trailhead and W1-A (Old Entrance Road). Do not attempt to access these closed areas.

Cape Royal Road and Point Imperial Road are closed from sunset October 15 through sunrise November 3, 2026.

• The roads are closed to accommodate critical road repair and rehabilitation work.

Bring your own water: extensive flash-flood damage to the Transcanyon Waterline has led to Stage 4 restrictions, water outages, and suspended overnight accommodations.

• North Rim: No services, fuel, or water are available; bring the provisions you need.
• Inner Canyon: All water is turned off. Carry sufficient water or be prepared to collect and properly treat natural water with a reliable treatment method.
• South Rim: Overnight accommodations are suspended and only dry camping is allowed. Yavapai Lodge and its cafe, tavern and patio, gift shop, and dining hall are closed due to Stage 4 water restrictions. The park remains open for day use; food and beverage services, the clinic, and Post Office remain open.
