Lorne-area walking trails closed after flood damage
Some walking trails near Lorne are closed for public safety after the January 2026 flash floods washed away or severely damaged bridges and walkways.
- GORCAPA and Parks Victoria are assessing damage and planning repairs; alternate routes will be provided where feasible to reopen trails sooner.
- Some damaged trails and bridges require complete replacement, which will take time because of complex planning and approval requirements.
Check current Erskine Falls and Lorne trail works before setting out.
Seasonal campsite closures at Aire River
Seasonal closures remain in effect at Aire River through 30 October 2026; do not use the closed sites.
- Aire River East: all sites are closed from 29 May to 30 October 2026 and reopen 31 October.
- Aire River West: sites 24–40 are closed from 29 May to 30 October 2026 and reopen 31 October; sites 17–23 reopened on 30 September.
Check current Aire River East and Aire River West site closures before booking or travelling.
