Kakadu alerts

The Jim Jim and Twin Falls area is closed for 2026; do not visit the closed sites.

• The closure includes Jim Jim Falls, Twin Falls gorge and plateau walk, Barrk Marlam and Budjmi walks, and Karnamarr campground.
• Cyclones caused substantial road damage. After engagement with Traditional Owners and site assessments, Traditional Owners requested the area remain closed until all road upgrades are complete because of concerns for visitor safety on their Country; Parks Australia supports this decision.
• Road and infrastructure upgrades are expected to be completed by December 2026, ahead of reopening for the 2027 dry season.

Barrk sandstone walk is closed at the request of Traditional Owners; do not enter.

Two Mile Hole Billabong is closed and will not be accessible in 2026 because of roadworks; do not plan a visit there this year.

Badbong Wodjmeng sandstone river walk and Waldak Irrmbal (West Alligator Head) are closed; do not enter or plan access to these sites.

• Badbong Wodjmeng: Site assessments are continuing; an opening update will be provided once confirmed.
• Waldak Irrmbal: The road is inaccessible, so the site is closed until further notice.
