South Fork Campground closed; road access limited
South Fork Campground is closed, and South Fork Road access is limited because recent road construction repaired damage from past floods and landslides. - The unpaved road is open to public access; high-clearance vehicles are recommended. - You cannot drive to the old trailhead parking area shown on maps. - Trails in the South Fork drainage are not currently passable to stock. Mineral King Road construction closures and delays
Plan around temporary closures and delays on Mineral King Road because construction is replacing drainage culverts on this narrow, curvy mountain road. - Construction affects access to the Mineral King area, separate from the main areas of Sequoia National Park; active work sites may move daily, and campgrounds, trailheads, or private inholdings such as Silver City Resort may sometimes be in the construction zone. - Monday–Thursday, September 8–October 28, 2026: expect delays of up to 30 minutes 7–10 a.m. and 4–7 p.m., with a full closure 10 a.m.–4 p.m. - Friday–Sunday: there are no closures or delays 7–8 a.m.; the road is closed 8 a.m.–7 p.m., with vehicle passthroughs at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. You must be at a closure point at a passthrough time to be guaranteed passage. - Before 7 a.m. and after 7 p.m., there are no closures or delays. - No closures or delays apply from noon Friday, October 9, through 7 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, for the Columbus (Indigenous Peoples') Day holiday. - Mineral King Road closes for the winter season on October 28, 2026. - These closures and delays do not affect visitors using the main Sequoia National Park Entrance near Three Rivers, California. - The schedule is tentative and subject to change based on conditions. Redwood Mountain Road is rough
Drive slowly on Redwood Mountain Road, which is open but rough because of tread damage and tree hazards following the 2021 KNP Complex wildfire; temporary repairs are in place. - Low-clearance vehicles: Park at Quail Flat. - Hikers: Walk down the road to access the Redwood Canyon Trail.
