ClosureUpdated

Parkway sections closed for bridge and road construction

Two Natchez Trace Parkway sections are closed to through traffic; follow the signed detours.

  • MP 437–440, Williamson County, Tennessee: Closed April 2026–May 2027 while construction replaces the temporary bridge barrier with a permanent safety barrier and performs preventative maintenance, including bridge repainting. Visitors can drive from the Northern Terminus to Big Tree Overlook (MP 440) and back. For northbound travel, exit at MP 437 onto Highway 96 west, then Highway 100 east; for southbound travel, use Highway 100 west, then Highway 96 east. Long-distance bicyclists should park at the Highway 96 off-ramp parking area and ride south of MP 437; shorter rides can start at the northernmost parking lot at MP 442 and go to Big Tree Overlook and back.
  • MP 159.5–135, Leake and Attala counties, Mississippi: Closed August 3, 2026–late 2026 for full-depth road reconstruction, bridge repairs, and paving. This is phase 2 of a larger project to reconstruct 83 miles of the parkway. The detour uses State Highways 19, 35, 25, and 16 and adds 11 minutes; follow the marked detour directions.
