New Forest outdoor-fire restriction
Do not light fires or use BBQs, campfires, stoves, outdoor camping equipment or other naked flames on the open Forest. The restriction follows repeated fire damage caused by campfires and BBQs and the growing wildfire risk from increasingly hotter and drier conditions.
- Do not place, throw or drop items likely to cause a fire, including lit cigarettes; safely discard cigarettes.
- Fireworks and lanterns are not allowed anywhere on the open-access land of the New Forest National Park.
- Breaching the restriction can lead to a £100 fixed penalty notice, rising to £1,000 after a successful prosecution.
- If you see a wildfire, get to a place of safety and call 999 immediately. Give your exact location using What3Words or visible landmarks and, if possible, meet the fire engine to give directions.
