Do not bring BBQs, light campfires, or use any form of open flame in the Peak District countryside because the fire risk remains high.

  • The Authority says recent access-land restrictions were lifted after cooler, damper weather, but asks visitors to remain vigilant about wildfires.
  • Report any fire immediately to the Fire Service on 999.

Silence Mine open-access exclusion

Do not enter the excluded open-access land at Silence Mine in Great Hucklow: the National Park Authority’s public-safety exclusion is in place until 30 April 2027.

  • The exclusion applies to open-access land; public rights of way are not affected.
  • Follow on-site notices and use an unaffected route if this area is part of your plans.
