Yoho alerts

Yoho Valley Road is closed to vehicles from mid-October to mid-June because of avalanche risk.

• Parks Canada’s current trail report lists no vehicle access to trails in the Yoho Valley.

Check current trail conditions before travelling.

Odaray Prospect and Plateau are closed to hikers May 1–November 30 to protect seasonal wildlife habitat and limit disturbance in the McArthur Valley–Cataract Brook Wildlife Corridor.

• Plateau habitat is used seasonally by grizzly bears and mountain goats; high human use at McArthur Pass can discourage or stop wildlife from using the corridor.
• Odaray Highline use is limited to four groups per day in this date range. Check and sign the trailhead logbook, hike 9:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., combine groups where possible, stay together on the trail and return, do not stop or eat below treeline, and do not bring pets.

Check Lake O’Hara trail restrictions before setting out.

Walcott Quarry and Mount Stephen are closed to visitors except on scheduled guided hikes or with a research permit, to protect these historically and scientifically significant sites.
