Closure: Price Park Picnic Area
MP 294.6–296.4 (Sandy Flat Gap to Price Park Picnic Area) remains closed for the ongoing Great American Outdoors Act project. Closure: US 221 to Jacksontown Access Rd / Bear Den Area
Blue Ridge Parkway remains closed from MP 317.5 to 324.7 (US 221 to Jacksontown Access Rd./Bear Den Campground). MP 324.7 to 330.9 is also affected, with a partial reopening from MP 327.5 to 330.9. Recreation is prohibited in the closed sections, and access to Orchard at Altapass is available from the south only.Official detailsClosure
Closure: Gillespie Gap Area (MP 324.7–327.5)
Blue Ridge Parkway is closed at MP 324.7–327.5 between Jacksontown Access Road and NC 226 (Gillespie Gap). Recreation is prohibited in the closed section, and Parkway access to the Orchard at Altapass is available from the south. Closure: James River Bridge Detour
Blue Ridge Parkway remains partially closed in the James River area, including MP 63.5–63.9 at the James River Bridge. A signed detour is in place from MP 61.4 at VA Route 130 via US 501 back to the Parkway at MP 64. Walking trails and the footbridge at the site are closed during the project, and the James River Visitor Center parking lot is only partially open for portable toilets. Closure: Little Switzerland to Mount Mitchell Corridor
Blue Ridge Parkway remains closed at MP 333.9–355.3 from Little Switzerland through Victor Crossing and NC 80 to Mount Mitchell State Park. Mount Mitchell State Park is listed open, but recreation is prohibited in the closed sections. NPS says Helene-related repair work in this corridor is expected to continue into late 2026.Official detailsClosure
Closure: Craggy Gardens Picnic Area
The Craggy Gardens Picnic Area remains closed through 2026 for Helene-related recovery work, including repairs to the picnic area entry road. Going past the gate from the Blue Ridge Parkway is prohibited. The Craggy Gardens trail system is still open, and visitors may hike from the visitor center to the picnic area, but no picnic-area facilities are open.Official detailsClosure
