RSPB Osprey Centre

Overview

Set in Abernethy Forest on the shore of Loch Garten, this is the UK’s original home of ospreys and the best place to watch them return, nest and fish in season. The centre blends proper wildlife watching with an easy-going forest-and-loch setting, so even non-birders come away smiling.

How the Visit Works

Inside, staff and volunteers share updates and help you get on the birds via telescopes and screens. Outside, you’ve got waymarked paths straight into the forest and along the loch, so it’s easy to pair osprey time with a tranquil walk.

Facilities & Essentials

There’s an official car park, restrooms and picnic tables, plus space to lock bikes. Dogs must stay on leads during the ground‑nesting season (roughly April to mid/late August), and they’re not allowed inside the nature centre (guide dogs excepted). Please stick to paths and use the car park—verge parking damages fragile habitat.
