Great Ocean Road alerts

Several walking trails near Lorne remain closed; do not enter closed tracks.

• Phantom Falls Walk is temporarily closed because flood and storm damage affected the trail and structures.
• St George River Walk is temporarily closed after a flash flood caused major damage to bridges and walkways.
• Godfrey Track is temporarily closed after a flash flood washed away or severely damaged bridges and walkways.

Wye Road is closed until further notice for road maintenance and repairs following storm and flood damage; do not use the road.

Loch Ard Gorge beach access steps are closed due to geological instability; do not use the steps. The closure remains in place until remediation works remove the hazards and ensure visitor safety.

Demons Bluff beach at Anglesea is closed because landslides pose significant public-safety risks along this coastline; do not enter the closed beach.

• The Authority, DEECA and Parks Victoria are monitoring the cliffs and undertaking geotechnical studies to investigate permanent risk-management options.

Spout Creek car park and access ramp are temporarily closed following recent erosion; use the alternative beach access about 300 metres toward Moggs Creek.

Seasonal closures affect all Aire River East campsites and Aire River West sites 24–40 through 30 October 2026; do not camp on those sites. They reopen from 31 October 2026.

• Access roads are narrow, unsealed gravel and sand-based roads with possible soft edges, steep verges and tight bends. The bridge over the Aire River between Hordenvale Road and Sand Road has a 5-tonne load limit; vehicles over 2.5 metres high are not recommended on the eastern route to Aire River West.
• Because the campgrounds are remote, have restricted access and are surrounded by vegetation, access by large or heavy vehicles, caravans and vans is not encouraged.
