Kennett River caravan park and precinct areas closed for works
The Kennett River caravan park, the precinct in front of the café, and the river walk picnic area are closed during precinct improvement works. - Works are underway to deliver public open spaces and landscaping, car park, road and pedestrian-path upgrades, a new public toilet, and an upgraded wastewater treatment plant. - The caravan park is closed while the wastewater treatment plant is installed and is expected to remain closed until just prior to the September school holidays; visitors with bookings during this time are being offered spots at nearby parks, and annual permit holders have been engaged. - The café-front precinct and river walk picnic area are closed during works from 20 July through September 2026, with fencing around the worksite to ensure safety. - Hawdon Avenue and Grey River Road remain open with traffic management, while speed restrictions apply along the Great Ocean Road. Aire River campground areas closed
Do not camp in or drive into the closed Aire River campground areas. - Aire River West: sites 17–40 are temporarily closed through 25 September 2026 and unavailable for camping or vehicle access due to seasonal conditions. Remaining sites may still be accessible subject to conditions; follow on-site signage and avoid closed areas to prevent campground damage. The Great Ocean Walk hike-in campsite is not impacted. - Aire River East: the campground is closed through 25 September 2026 for the annual winter closure. The closure protects the campground and access tracks during wet weather, when vehicle use and camping activity can cause damage; there is no visitor or vehicle access, and campground and toilet facilities are unavailable. - The closure period may be extended if conditions remain too wet.
