Cavell area and Jasper campground closures
Do not plan visits to the closed Cavell area or the Jasper campgrounds listed below during the 2026 season. - Cavell Road and the Cavell area trails—including Trail 41 (Path of the Glacier) and Trail 42 (Cavell Meadows)—are closed. The loss of trees and vegetation on high-angle slopes increased the risk of debris flows and landslides, and extensive rehabilitation is required before safe reopening. - Wabasso Campground, Whirlpool Group Campground, and a portion of Wapiti Campground remain closed for the 2026 season because these areas were heavily affected by wildfire and require significant rebuilding.
