Wildfire-impacted area closures in Jasper
Stay out of the closed wildfire-impacted areas in Jasper National Park; access is prohibited or restricted to protect public safety.
- Edith Cavell: Edith Cavell Road and Trails 41 (Path of the Glacier) and 42 (Cavell Meadows) are closed to all travel.
- Maligne Canyon: Access to trails and surrounding land from the First Bridge parking lot to the Fifth Bridge junction is prohibited, including winter recreational access.
- Old Fort Point–Wabasso Lake corridor, including Valley of the Five Lakes: Trails 1, 1a, 9, 9a, 9b and 101 are open, but Trail 9c remains closed. Areas beyond the trail corridor remain closed within 5 metres of the centre line on either side of the disturbed trail surface.
- Trail 7: The section behind the golf course, from the Trail 7a junction to the Trail 7e junction, remains closed to all use.
- Palisades Centre and Maligne Horse Range: Access to the Palisades Centre and the area surrounding Maligne Horse Range is prohibited; adjacent Overlander Trail 10 is permitted.
- Campgrounds: Wabasso Campground on Highway 93A remains closed; Wapiti Campground access is restricted to loops AA through H, with the rest closed.
- Whistlers Summit Trail: Trails 5 and 5d and a portion of Trail 5c (Fast Tracks) are open; Trail 5b (Swamp Rider) is closed.
- Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act, with a maximum penalty of $25,000.
