Cavell area and Jasper campground closures
Do not plan visits to the closed Cavell area or the Jasper campgrounds listed below during the 2026 season. - Cavell Road and the Cavell area trails—including Trail 41 (Path of the Glacier) and Trail 42 (Cavell Meadows)—are closed. The loss of trees and vegetation on high-angle slopes increased the risk of debris flows and landslides, and extensive rehabilitation is required before safe reopening. - Wabasso Campground, Whirlpool Group Campground, and a portion of Wapiti Campground remain closed for the 2026 season because these areas were heavily affected by wildfire and require significant rebuilding. Check current Icefields Parkway and Jasper access information before travelling.
