Overview

Natural Bridge is a sea-carved rock arch perched on Kalbarri’s dramatic coastal cliffs, where waves pound Tumblagooda Sandstone that’s been sculpted over millions of years. It’s a quick, clearly signed stop that delivers big views with minimal effort.

What You’ll See

From the fenced lookout, the Indian Ocean slams into 100‑meter cliffs and the span of the arch itself. Scan south and north for rugged headlands, offshore spray, and—if luck is on your side—passing dolphins or, in season, breaching humpbacks.

Trails & How to Visit

You can simply stroll from the car park to the viewpoint, or make it more of an outing:

Bigurda Trail: An 8 km coastal walk between Eagle Gorge and Natural Bridge with nonstop cliff vistas.
Bigurda Boardwalk: A bite‑sized 1.2 km (return) section linking Natural Bridge and Island Rock for easy, high‑reward scenery.

Best Time to Visit

Light: Sunrise and especially sunset set the red cliffs glowing—prime time for photos.
Wildlife: June–November is peak for humpback whale sightings offshore; wildflowers typically peak August–September.
Crowds: It’s a quick stop that turns over fast; aim for early or late in the day for space and softer light.

Keep an eye on updrafts along the cliffs for raptors like ospreys. Offshore, whales migrate past in winter and spring, and dolphins sometimes cruise the swells. On land, spring paints the coast with a rich mix of wildflowers.

Safety & Essentials

Clifftop paths can be rocky or sandy in places—watch your footing and stay behind barriers, as edges can be undercut and gusty. There’s parking, toilets, and a picnic shelter, but no potable water. Pets aren’t allowed, and the area uses 1080 baits to control feral animals, so plan accordingly. For longer coastal walks, consider carrying a personal locator beacon and come prepared for sun and wind.
