New River Gorge alerts

Rend Trail is closed from both trailheads through approximately December 2027; Church Loop Trail is also closed because its only access is from Rend.

• Rend Trail is closed for improvements: a new Minden trailhead parking area, restroom and picnic area overlooking Arbuckle Creek; structural work on five historic railroad trestles; full trail-surface rehabilitation; and construction of an accessible ramp over the “big rock” to replace a stairway, creating the park’s only fully accessible earthen-surface trail.

The upper Kaymoor Miners Trail is closed Monday–Thursday through November 19 for trail rehabilitation.

• The closed section runs from Kaymoor Top down to the mine site at the Kaymoor Trail junction; it is expected to be fully open Friday–Sunday.
• While the upper section is closed, hikers can reach Kaymoor Mine via the Kaymoor Trail from Fayette Station Road or the Craig Branch Trail; the stairs from Kaymoor Trail to the bottom remain open.

Sections of Keeney’s Creek Rail Trail and Kates Plateau Trail are closed because of structural damage and a dangerous slide.

• At Nuttallburg, Keeney’s Creek Rail Trail is closed above the Conveyor Trail junction due to structural damage to the trail and bridges; the lower end remains open to connect with the Conveyor Trail.
• Kates Plateau Trail is closed from Upper Glade Creek Parking Area to Kates Plateau Loop Trail because of a dangerous slide near the Glade Creek Trail junction.

Burnwood group campground and Burnwood Trailhead restrooms are closed from October 5 through mid-November while water lines are replaced.
