Overseas Highway alerts

A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect for the Upper Keys and Coastal Flood Advisories remain in effect for the Middle and Lower Keys until 5 a.m. EDT Monday, October 26; do not drive through floodwater or around barricades.

• In the Upper Keys, major saltwater flooding may close numerous roads and inundate low-lying homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure; shoreline erosion is possible.
• In the Middle and Lower Keys, saltwater is expected to flood low-elevation streets and lots; storm drains may overflow, and seawalls and docks may be overtopped. Some roads may close.
• Boaters should expect less clearance under fixed bridges. Persistent puddles around high tide are almost certain to contain saltwater; allow extra travel time and protect flood-prone property.

Expect possible nighttime lane closures on Seven Mile Bridge for FDOT’s rehabilitation project to repair and strengthen the bridge.

• Travel lanes may be closed only on non-event days, Monday through Thursday, 8 p.m.–6 a.m.

FDOT construction is causing nighttime single-lane closures on the Overseas Highway at Channel 5 Bridge (MM 71); be prepared to stop and follow flaggers.

• Closures are scheduled Sunday through Thursday, 8 p.m.–6 a.m. the following morning; none are scheduled Sunday, October 25.
• Flaggers may stop traffic in one direction to let vehicles traveling the opposite direction pass safely.
