An approximately 1.26-acre wildfire remains active near Stull Run Trail in Shenandoah National Park’s south district. - The U.S. Wildland Fire Service and Virginia Department of Forestry are responding. - The fire is not currently threatening any structures, and all park trails and facilities remain open at this time. Old Rag Trailhead main parking lot closed
The Old Rag Trailhead main parking lot is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic; use the existing overflow parking lots to reach the trailhead. - The closure is required for infrastructure enhancements at the main parking lot; work began May 4 and is expected to be completed by November 2026. - Hikers using Old Rag’s Saddle, Ridge, and Ridge Access trails from March 1 through November 30 must obtain an Old Rag day-use ticket online before arriving, in addition to a park entrance pass.
