Manitou Islands Access Limited in 2026
North Manitou Island and South Manitou Island have limited visitor access throughout the 2026 season because of a dock-relocation and infrastructure project. All facilities, docks, and utilities on both islands are closed until the work is complete, and access is expected to resume in 2027. The Manitou Island Transit ferry will not operate in 2026 because there is no safe docking location. Personal boats cannot dock, and charter boats require a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA).
