Controlled access and equipment rules on Teide trails
Hikers on regulated routes to La Rambleta must book electronically through Tenerife ON and carry their matching booking and identification.
- The controls apply to PNT 07, PNT 09, PNT 10, PNT 23 and PNT 28. They address continuous rescue operations involving people without adequate preparation, route knowledge or equipment.
- Bookings are assigned under user quotas and profiles, including the general public, mountaineering federation members, guides, Altavista Refuge guests and bivouac users. At checkpoints, show the booking on paper or mobile, official ID and—if applicable—a current federation card. Access can be denied if the booking is missing, does not match the visitor, or the visitor is not accompanied as required; a checkpoint is located at km 4.6 on PNT 07.
- In stable weather, PNT 07, PNT 09, PNT 23 and PNT 28 require long trousers, fleece or warm clothing, mountain boots, a fully charged mobile phone, thermal emergency blanket, water or other liquids, hat, gloves and a flashlight/headlamp. On PNT 10, PNT 11 and PNT 12, a phone, blanket, water, hat/gloves and flashlight/headlamp are voluntary in stable conditions.
- In icy or snowy conditions, crampons, an ice axe, a signed declaration and federation insurance/card are required. Follow the trail-specific equipment and access rules for the conditions you encounter.
- Booking changes entered the Tenerife ON system on 19 October for activities from 6 December 2026: PNT 10 has reorganized 90-minute slots, with revised quotas and schedules for the public and park-accredited guides; FECAMON members have specific bookings with exclusive places. Certain PNT 07/PNT 10 accesses can be combined in one booking for mountaineering federation members and people staying overnight in the Teide bivouac area. Requirements vary by permit, so check the trail conditions before booking.
