Wildfire-risk alert on Tenerife
Tenerife is under an active alert for wildfire risk from 10:00 on 8 September 2026; visitors to Teide National Park should follow the authorities’ wildfire self-protection advice before travelling. - The alert applies across Tenerife. Temperatures are forecast to reach 36°C across broad areas of the western and especially southern forest midlands, with isolated readings up to 37°C; the north forest midlands are expected to reach 32–33°C, with some areas at 34°C. - The reason is an intensifying warm tropical episode with high temperatures, low relative humidity and moderate wind. These conditions increase the availability of fuels and the potential for fire spread; the authorities advise reinforcing preventive measures. Check the current wildfire alert and self-protection advice before travelling.
