Getting There & Amenities

There’s no official parking lot, restroom, water tap, or signage here. Access is typically from the Braemar/Linn of Dee side using small roadside laybys or parking back in the village. Bring everything you need and plan to pack it all back out. If you find streams en route, treat water before drinking.

Wildlife

Across the wider Cairngorms you may encounter iconic Highland wildlife—think mountain hare, red squirrel, and rare birds of prey—so keep your distance, move quietly, and give sensitive species plenty of space.

Safety & Preparation

Weather in these hills is famously changeable. Bring layers, food, and full-day supplies, plus proper navigation (map, compass, GPS). You’re on your own for route-finding.
