Expect tranquil water views, birdsong, and a surprising sense of wildness considering how close you are to town.
Trail Experience
This is the shortest of the reserve’s color‑coded routes and the smoothest underfoot, with a well‑maintained, accessible surface and only gentle gradients. You’ll weave through native birch to a cluster of small lochans—perfect for quiet reflection shots when the air is still. Overhead, crags loom and raptors often patrol the sky, adding drama to an otherwise mellow stroll. If you want more, the reserve’s waymarked network offers longer loops and a steeper extension up to the Craigellachie summit for bigger views, but that’s outside the simple lochan circuit.
