The overlook is one of the signed stops along this route, which also links into longer options via the Buckeye/Grandma Gatewood Trail connecting Cedar Falls and Ash Cave if you want to keep exploring.

Best Time to Visit

Peak crowds run late spring through fall, especially on weekends. Aim for weekdays and arrive before 10 a.m. Fall color is superb, and winter brings striking ice formations—just know shaded stairs and bridges can be slick.

Trail Notes & Safety

Trails mix stone steps, roots, and narrow ledges. Wear grippy footwear and stay on marked paths—edges can be undercut and wet rock is unforgiving. Dogs are allowed on leash, but sections with cliffs and tight corridors aren’t ideal for every pet.
