About Rhino Trail
A relaxed, self-guided loop around Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp, the Rhino Trail is an easy 1.4-mile total circuit with roughly 45 minutes of walking time. The mostly level route follows the camp perimeter and Matjulu River, with benches, viewpoints, and interpretive stops along the way.

Start at the reception/restaurant signboard and walk the loop in either direction. The first roughly 800 meters are the accessible, interpretive section with a guiding cable and Braille boards. The path is generally clear and well marked, including cement rhino-footprint markers, but it narrows and becomes rougher near the camping area. Watch for the signed continuation near the entrance gate and the short bricked/service-path return toward reception.

Carry water, a hat, and binoculars. Stay on the marked path, take care around internal camp roads, and give wildlife plenty of space. Do not feed or interact with animals through the perimeter fence; it is not a guarantee of safety. Be prepared to walk single-file or around tents and caravans near the camping area.
