Boulder Harbor

Overview

Boulder Harbor sits on the Boulder Basin shoreline and, as of November 23, 2025, its launch ramp remains closed due to low water. Think of it as a quiet, quick-access spot for walking down to the water, casting a line, or just taking in the basin views rather than a place to put a boat in.

What You Can Do Here

• Stroll the shoreline and fish from the bank.
• Use the remaining auto and trailer parking areas for convenient lake access on foot.
• Restrooms and trash receptacles are present, so it works well for short stops between bigger activities.

If You’re Boating

You can’t launch here. Head to Hemenway Harbor or Callville Bay for operable ramps. Note that Hemenway has construction-related delays that began June 2, 2025, so build in extra time and always check ramp status before you go.

Nearby Picnic Option

There’s no designated picnic area at Boulder Harbor itself. For tables, grills, restrooms, and drinking water, use the Boulder Beach Picnic Area about 1–2 miles away.

Conditions & Safety

Lake levels shift and can expose silty mud that traps feet or vehicles—test the ground before committing. Shorelines in this area are often rocky, so water shoes are smart. Summer heat is intense (often 100°F+ June–August), with milder temps October–April.

Wildlife

Expect desert regulars like lizards, birds, antelope ground squirrels, and coyotes around the basin. Wetland habitat at nearby Las Vegas Wash draws great blue herons, making the broader area a decent casual birding stop.

Fees

Standard park entry applies: $25 per private vehicle, valid 1–7 days. The park is cashless; bring a card or digital payment. Lake-use (vessel) fees apply only if you launch elsewhere.

Best Time to Visit

Aim for early morning or late afternoon for softer light and cooler temps, especially in summer. Weekdays tend to be calmer, and sunrise/sunset glow can make the basin views more photogenic.
