Trail Experience

The Punta Catedral loop is a popular circular walk with a mix of gentle grades and short, steeper pitches. Roots and rocks keep you honest, and sections can be slick after rain. There are interpretive signs along the way, but no amenities on the isthmus—treat it as a self‑contained hike between beach breaks.

Wildlife Highlights

This corridor is lively: white‑faced capuchins, howlers, and sloths are commonly reported, with coatis, iguanas, and a variety of birds in the mix. Guides aren’t required but can level‑up sightings with telescopes and fun natural history tidbits.

Logistics You Need to Know

• Hours are typically 7:00 am–4:00 pm and the park is closed on Tuesdays. Tickets are purchased online in advance.
• Food is not allowed inside; non‑alcoholic beverages are fine. There’s a small cafeteria, plus restrooms and changing areas near the main beach hub—not on the isthmus.
• From the entrance, it’s an easy walk to the beach area that anchors both ends of the isthmus. Official parking is outside the entrance; ignore pushy attendants for unofficial lots and head to the signed area.
• The Punta Catedral loop and lookouts have had periodic closures—always check status the day before.
