Trail guide
Havre Saint Pierre is a 1.1-kilometre easy loop from Greenwich Trailhead, following a grassy, gently sloping field route toward St. Peters Bay. Allow about 30 to 45 minutes. It's a good choice when you want bay scenery and a bit of local history without committing to Greenwich's longer dune walks. The full distance includes the connector to and from the loop.
It's flat, with grass and mapped gravel path rather than a demanding climb. The bay opens out beside the fields, and a split-rail fence gives the shoreline side a clear sense of place. At the far end, stop at the Havre Saint Pierre historical marker. It recalls the French settlement established here in 1720 and the deportation of the community after 1758. If pink fireweed is in bloom, the old fields add the best seasonal colour. This is a bay-side walk, not a summit or waterfall hike; the appeal is the open view, easy pace, and story attached to the route.
Start at Greenwich Trailhead, 61 Greenwich Road, where surface parking and a picnic site are mapped, with a toilet nearby. Greenwich trails and parking aren't maintained from Thanksgiving to Victoria Day, so access is seasonal outside the main visitor period. Dogs are allowed on park trails on a leash up to 3 metres. The Greenwich Beach facilities are a separate stop, not part of this loop.
