There’s genuinely something for everyone: roughly 20% beginner, 25% intermediate, 30% advanced, and 25% expert. Expect wide groomers, bowls, and a good mix of blues, reds, and blacks off Whitestar, Captain’s, Arcadia Basin, and (now) Soho. Highlights include Highway 89 for carving laps, Racecourse and Upper Goldrush for confident intermediates, and Last Shot Bowl or the Arcadia Chutes on storm refreshes. Willows Basin (opened 2021) added ~65 ha; the Soho uplift came with a new 6‑seater chair. Scenic bonus: lap Queenstown Return for views across Soho Basin toward Lake Wakatipu.

Cardrona is the Southern Hemisphere benchmark for park riders. You’ll find four terrain parks, a gravity cross course, and two halfpipes—one a full 22‑ft Olympic superpipe. Progression lines run from Lil’ Bucks to medium and large features, so everyone from first‑timers to pros can stack fun laps.

This is a full‑service resort: rentals, repairs, medical center, childcare and ski kindy, group and private lessons, and 15 on‑mountain apartments. Count on multiple cafés and bars (from quick noodles and pizza to sit‑down options like The Mezz), plus coffee stops near key lifts for fast warm‑ups. Restrooms are spread around the base and on‑mountain buildings. Sightseers can ride the chondola for views even if they’re not skiing.

When the snow melts, Cardrona becomes a high‑altitude bike park with hiking and the region’s novelty favorite—mountain carting. It’s an easy add‑on to a Wānaka or Queenstown summer itinerary.

Parts of the mountain overlap with sensitive habitat (native lizards have shaped recent lift planning). Respect ropes and closures—those zones protect wildlife and help the resort keep terrain open long‑term.
