If you’re touring the Valley in an EV, this is the handiest plug-in stop. The Welcome Center lot on the east side hosts four Level 2 chargers with J1772 connectors, and charging is free courtesy of Yosemite Hospitality.

These are standard Level 2 units with J1772 plugs; bring your adapter if your car uses a different inlet. Users commonly report around 10 kW here. The stalls are in the east-side section of the Welcome Center parking area, so it’s easy to plug in while you orient at Yosemite Village.

Here’s the catch: there are only four ports and they fill quickly—especially on summer weekends and mid‑day. With no idle fees at most in-park chargers, spaces can stay occupied after cars finish, and you may also see park vehicles using the stalls.

If it’s full, you’ve got backup options: Curry Village (20 ports), Yosemite Falls Day-Use Parking (10), Yosemite Valley Lodge (8 across two banks), and The Ahwahnee (6; open to non‑guests, move when done). All are Level 2, J1772, and free.

Best Time to Charge

Aim for early morning or later evening when day-use lots thin out. Weekdays are easier than weekends, and shoulder seasons beat summer. The stations run 24/7, so off-hours are your friend.
