Overview

If you’re RVing and want hookups, this is the spot. Rio Grande Village RV Park sits on the park’s far east side near the river and Daniels Ranch Road. It’s concession-operated, open year-round, and uniquely the only place in the park with full hookups—water, sewer, and 30‑amp power—across 25 sites.

What to Expect

Think utilitarian over rustic charm: sites are close together and maneuvering big rigs can feel snug. But as a basecamp for Boquillas Canyon, the Hot Springs area, and river-access points, it’s hard to beat. Desert flats spread out beneath the Sierra del Carmen, which glow at sunrise and sunset.

Amenities & Nearby Services

• Full hookups at each site (water, sewer, electric). A dump station is by the entrance.
• Showers and coin-op laundry are at the adjacent Rio Grande Village Store—handy, but not inside the RV park itself. Bring quarters and expect occasional downtime.
• The store also stocks groceries and camping basics, and there’s fuel next door. Don’t count on cell service; WiFi is available at the store only.

Wildlife & Night Skies

You’re in prime desert habitat. Campers frequently see javelinas, raccoons, roadrunners, coyotes—and occasionally bobcats, horses, donkeys, and cows wandering through. Secure food and trash. Big Bend’s dark skies shine here; step outside after dinner for excellent stargazing.

Downsides

Sites are essentially paved pads with hookups, limited privacy, and minimal shade. In peak season it can feel busy, and larger rigs will find the layout tight. Facilities (showers/laundry) are next door, not on-site.

Best Time to Visit

Cooler months and holidays book up fast—reserve early. For comfort and scenery, aim for fall through early spring. Light is best early and late in the day when the Sierra del Carmen catches color; nights are perfect for stargazing.

Who It’s For

RVers who value convenience—full hookups, a short walk to showers/laundry, and fuel—over a spacious, woodsy vibe. Tent campers should look to the separate (dry) campground nearby.
