Guide
Rio Grande Village Visitor Center is a small stop about a quarter-mile north of the developed village and roughly 20 miles east of Panther Junction. It’s worth a short visit if you’re exploring this end of Big Bend: the exhibits explain how the Rio Grande has changed, how the United States and Mexico work together to care for it, and what wildlife depends on the river corridor.
Outside, a shaded ramada shelters a large raised-relief map; nearby are life-size bronze sculptures of local wildlife, including a catfish. Labeled desert plants around the entrance make this a useful place to learn a few names before spotting them around Rio Grande Village.
