Bridal Veil Lookout

Overview

Bridal Veil Lookout (also signed as Bridal Veil View Lookout) is one of Leura’s easiest wins: a short, clearly marked bushwalk that drops you onto the cliff line for a direct, postcard view of Bridal Veil Falls pouring into the Jamison Valley. It’s compact, natural, and all about the vista.

What You'll See

Expect a head-on angle of the long, ribboning cascade as Leura Falls Creek tips over the sandstone escarpment, with big valley and cliff panoramas beyond. After rain, the falls are especially photogenic and dramatic. On clear days, you’ll get sweeping horizons and plenty of photo ops from the fenced lookout.

Getting There

The lookout sits on the Leura side of the cliff line within Blue Mountains National Park, connected by formed tracks that are well signposted. It’s commonly reached as a short, moderate Grade 3 walk of about 1 km return (roughly 20–30 minutes). Many visitors link it with nearby Olympian Lookout or approach via established tracks from Carrington Park or the Leura Cascades network.

On-Site Facilities

This is a simple, natural viewpoint. There are no toilets, water, food, or parking at the lookout itself. Plan to start from nearby access points and bring what you need. Some sections have stairs and short, steep bits; take care with footing.

Wildlife

Typical Blue Mountains bush surrounds the track—eucalypts, ferns, and regular birdlife. If you move quietly, you might spot green parrots and other birds along the way.

Safety & Etiquette

Parts of the cliff line are unfenced—keep well back from edges and supervise kids closely. The sandstone can be slick after rain, especially on stairs. As always in the Blue Mountains, check track conditions and closures before you go.

If you’ve got more time, fold Bridal Veil Lookout into a loop with nearby Leura viewpoints like Olympian Lookout, or continue along the clifftop tracks for more Jamison Valley perspectives.

Best Time to Visit

• After recent rain for the strongest waterfall flow.
• Early morning for softer light and fewer people; late afternoon can be lovely too.
• Weekdays are typically quieter than weekends and holidays.
