Pros & cons
PROS

- Quieter than the big-name lookouts nearby
- Easy add-on along the Prince Henry Cliff Walk
CONS
- No facilities at the lookout
- Track can be muddy and slippery after rain
Overview
Burrabarroo Lookout is one of those under-the-radar cliff-edge viewpoints that rewards you with sweeping Jamison Valley scenery without the Echo Point crowds. It sits on the Prince Henry Cliff Walk between Katoomba and Leura, making it an easy, scenic detour on a classic Blue Mountains ramble.
Getting There
Start from Carrington Park on Cliff Drive and follow the Prince Henry Cliff Walk to the signed sidetrack for Burrabarroo. It’s straightforward and well used, but expect some steps and natural surfaces.
What You’ll See
From the rocky lookout, the view opens wide across the Jamison Valley and its sandstone escarpments. It’s all about big horizons, forested slopes, and those layered Blue Mountains ridgelines.
Wildlife
Keep an ear out for birdlife along the track—this section of the cliff walk is good for spotting lyrebirds, cockatoos, currawongs and honeyeaters working the bush.
Planning & Safety
There are no facilities at the lookout—no toilets, water, or shelter—so come self‑sufficient. After rain, sections of the track get muddy and slick; watch your footing near edges and take it slow on wet sandstone.
Make It a Mini-Route
It pairs neatly with nearby viewpoints on the same track—think a short out-and-back from Carrington Park or a slightly longer wander linking Burrabarroo with other lookouts in either direction.
Best Time to Visit
Early morning or late afternoon brings softer light for photography and even fewer people. If you’re choosing between times, late-afternoon glow across the valley is especially flattering on the cliffs.
