A compact coastal sampler, this 2 km TOTAL loop (about 1 hour) links Green Patch with Bristol Point. Expect a little of everything: sandy beach, a tidal rock platform, and a quiet forest return. It’s officially rated moderate mostly because of the uneven, occasionally slick rock sections.
Route Experience
Start from the Green Patch car park and wander through the day‑use area to the beach. Head right along the rocky shoreline; a small bridge leads onto the rock platform where hardy coastal plants and animals eke out a living in the spray zone. You’ll reach a small secluded beach before the track swings inland through forest to the Bristol Point picnic area. Return to Green Patch on the formed path through tall blackbutt forest. There’s also a shortcut from the day‑use area if you want to avoid the rocks.
Difficulty and Conditions
The walking is mostly flat but the rock platform can be wet and slippery, and parts are exposed to swell. Tackle this at low tide for the safest and most enjoyable passage. Not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
What You’ll See
Along the shore, look for life adapted to salty, wave‑washed rock ledges. The return through blackbutt forest feels calmer and is noted as a good place to look for nocturnal animals after dark (bring a torch and take extra care if you do this).
Access, Facilities, and Passes
Park at Green Patch where you’ll find toilets, picnic tables, and BBQs; Bristol Point also has a picnic area. A park pass is required for vehicles entering the park. Pets are not permitted on the walking tracks.
Tips and When to Go
Go at low tide, wear grippy footwear, and pack water and sun protection—the rock platform can hold heat and the sun reflects off the water. Crowds ebb and flow with beachgoers at Green Patch; starting early or later in the afternoon often feels quieter. If you want more birds and interpretive signs, the nearby Telegraph Creek Nature Trail offers a similarly short 2 km loop through eucalypt, creek, and heathland.
