• Two large parking lots on a clockwise, one‑way loop.

Trails from Your Table

Two self‑guiding loops start by the west lot: Pilgrim Spring and Small’s Swamp. Each is about three‑quarters of a mile with some hilly terrain—perfect for a leg‑stretcher before or after lunch. Expect interpretive stops that explain the landscape as you go.

Walking the loops gives a feel for that long human story layered onto today’s pitch pine and oak woods.

Think quiet and simple: a handful of tables, ample parking, and short, informative walks. It’s not set up for big gatherings or cookouts, and there’s no water on site. If the pavilion is taken, check the east lot for extra tables.

Weekday mornings are usually the calmest. Summer weekends can see a bump in mid‑afternoon use, but the two‑lot layout helps spread people out. Restroom operations outside peak season vary; most park restrooms beyond the two visitor centers run late spring to early fall.
