Overview

A few miles north of Colter Bay and just off US 191/89/287, Leeks Marina is a compact, historic launch point on Jackson Lake with a laid‑back vibe and big views. It’s best known for two things: straightforward access for private boats and a lakefront pizzeria right by the docks.

What You’ll Find

  • Boat launch and private-boat services. Bring your own watercraft—rentals are not offered here.
  • Leeks Pizzeria sits lakeside, making it an easy spot to grab a slice with mountain-and-water views between adventures.

History Snapshot

The marina takes its name from Stephen Leek, a rancher, entrepreneur, and conservation advocate who established a hunting and fishing camp here around the turn of the 20th century. His widely shared photographs of starving elk helped spur the creation of the National Elk Refuge in 1912.

Scenery & Wildlife

Expect classic Jackson Lake scenery—broad water, big sky, and the Teton skyline beyond. Along the lakeshore you may spot waterfowl and, at times, raptors like eagles or ospreys cruising the shoreline.

Best Time to Visit

Midday can feel busy around the pizzeria and launch. For a calmer experience and easier parking, aim for mornings or later in the afternoon. If you’re planning to launch, check current conditions since operations can be affected by water levels.

Need-to-Know

  • No boat rentals; this marina serves private boats only.
  • Boating here requires a park boat permit and an aquatic invasive species inspection; plan ahead so you’re squared away on arrival.
  • Anglers need a Wyoming fishing license and must follow park fishing regulations.
  • For pizza without the wait, try off‑peak times (late lunch or early dinner).

Pros

  • Private boat launch on Jackson Lake
  • Lakefront pizzeria with views

Cons

  • No boat rentals
  • Services can vary with lake water levels

Tips

  • Bring your own watercraft—there are no rentals at this marina.
  • Confirm current water levels and marina operations before towing a boat.
  • If you plan to fish, get a Wyoming license and review park regulations.
  • For shorter waits at the pizzeria, visit outside peak meal hours.
