Tucked above Jakes Creek near Elkmont, the cabin was built in the mid‑1800s and later adapted for Avent’s art with a large light‑bringing window and a stone fireplace. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is noted as the only authentic Appalachian settler cabin left in its original spot along Jakes Creek.
