If you want to explore Cedar Grove without camping, this is the spot.

Rooms & Amenities

Expect basic but comfortable rooms, many with two queen beds and effective (sometimes loud) A/C. Patio Rooms add a small kitchenette (sink, mini‑fridge/freezer, microwave). In‑room Keurig coffee makers are standard, and recent guests appreciated convenient charging via outlets/USB. Every room has a private bathroom with running water. Wi‑Fi exists but is often only good enough for texts; don’t count on streaming. No cell service in the Cedar Grove area.

As a base for day hikes in the canyon, it’s hard to beat. Just know it’s a haul from the giant sequoias: roughly an hour to Grant Grove and about two hours to Giant Forest.

What To Expect

Pricing reflects the remote location (reports around the low $200s before tax). Rooms and bathrooms are dated but functional; think clean sheets, hot showers, and not much else—exactly what many want after a big day. A/C noise and thin walls come up in reviews, and occasional insects are part of the setting. Nights are dark enough for excellent stargazing once you step away from the lodge lights.

Safety & Wildlife

The Kings River is powerful and cold—admire it, but be cautious near the banks. Bears roam the area, including around dawn; store food properly and stay alert.

Cedar Grove Lodge is open spring through fall, with a short season and only 21 rooms—reserve early. Check‑in windows are limited (typically around 4:00–8:30 pm) and there’s no after‑hours check‑in, so plan your arrival accordingly. Laundry and public showers have been reduced or closed at times for water conservation; availability can vary by season.
