Bradley’s Lookout Trail

Bradley’s Lookout is the mellow sibling to The Pinnacle—same trailhead, far fewer people, and a satisfying Lake George vista for minimal effort. Expect a quick, mostly gentle forest walk to a rocky ledge with frontal views of the lake and the Tongue Mountain Range.

Route and stats

From the Pinnacle Trail Parking on Edgecomb Pond Road, start on the main Pinnacle trail, then take the signed, blue‑blazed turn for Bradley’s Lookout. It’s an out‑and‑back of about 1.2 miles total, with roughly 180 feet of gain. The grade is easy to moderate, with a couple of rockier bits as you approach the ledges. The junction can sneak up on you—keep an eye out for the sign/blue markers.

What you’ll see

The lookout sits on open, glacially‑sculpted Adirondack bedrock with a framed, intimate view over Lake George—look for the islands, the Tongue Mountain Range, and rolling hills beyond. The approach passes through classic mixed hardwoods and pockets of pine with occasional rocky outcrops; fall color here pops.

Best time to hike

This is a year‑round quick win. Spring and summer are shaded and pleasant; fall is prime for foliage. In winter it doubles as an easy snowshoe—bring microspikes if conditions are icy, as the ledges can get slick. Crowds are typically lighter than The Pinnacle, and sunset light over the lake can be lovely if you’re comfortable returning at dusk.

Tips

• Dogs are welcome on leash; stay on the marked trail—there’s private land nearby.
• Footing is rocky/rooty in spots; after rain, expect mud. In winter, traction helps.
• If you want more, tag The Pinnacle on the same outing. At the lookout, there’s a Chronolog photo station—snap a pic to contribute to the time‑lapse of the view.
