It peels off just south of the gazebo and ambles east through hemlock–oak forest and grassy meadows to a seasonal waterfall. Expect a calmer, more woodsy vibe after the big lake panorama up top.
Distance-wise, the Blue Trail adds about 0.9–1.0 mile one way beyond the gazebo. Getting there requires the initial 0.7‑mile, ~620‑foot climb on the Orange Trail from the parking area, which is the steepest part of the outing. The Blue segment itself is notably gentler than that first push.
Scenery shifts from expansive Lake George views at the gazebo to quiet forest and meadow walking, with a waterfall highlight in wet seasons. At the end, you’ll reach the head of a short loop: a brief spur (about 0.1 mile) drops south to the base of the falls, or you can head northeast to the top. In spring, the cascade is the payoff; in late summer and fall, it’s often a trickle or dry.
Trail tread is natural hardpack with roots and rocks—nothing technical, but you’ll want sturdy shoes. Expect mud and slick spots after rain or during freeze–thaw; in winter, traction may be needed. Please stay on the marked trail and don’t step off to skirt muddy patches.
