Historic Railroad Trailhead Restroom

Overview

This is the go-to bathroom stop at the start of the Historic Railroad Trail, right by the Lake Mead (Alan Bible) Visitor Center. It’s the last reliable pit stop before the easy, scenic rail-bed walk with tunnels and lake views.

What to Expect

• Primary facilities sit at the visitor center and serve the main trailhead. When the center is open, expect modern restrooms and water.
• A vault toilet is noted at the lower trailhead. Along the route toward Hoover Dam, additional toilets and occasional water stations have been reported, but availability isn’t guaranteed—plan as if there aren’t any after you leave the trailhead.

Why It Matters

Once you’re on the trail, services are sparse. The route runs roughly 3.7 miles one-way toward Hoover Dam with big desert views and very little shade, so starting hydrated and prepared makes a big difference.

Best Time to Visit

Hit it early. Hikers note quiet mornings with crowds building as the day warms. Summer heat can be intense and the trail may close during extreme heat—cooler months and early daylight hours are your friend.
