Sunbeam Creek Falls (sometimes called Upper Sunbeam Falls) is a photogenic, multi-tier cascade right off Stevens Canyon Road near Louise Lake. You can admire it straight from the bridge over Sunbeam Creek, making it an easy, worthwhile pause as you wind through one of the park’s most scenic corridors.
What You'll See
Expect veils of water slipping over volcanic rock ledges in several drops and twists. The most obvious section is roadside, but a short, careful walk about 30 feet upstream reveals more of the upper cascades and finer textures that don’t show from the pavement.
Why It’s Not Just Another Roadside Stop
It’s under-the-radar compared to the park’s headliners, so you often get a peaceful moment with the sound of water and lush summer greenery. Photographers love the layered composition and the way the creek breaks into thin sheets over the steps of rock.
Best Time to Visit
Summer is ideal. Seasonal snowmelt feeds the flow and Stevens Canyon Road is typically open then. Outside the main season, access is often limited by road closures. If you’re driving through, plan a quick pause when you cross the bridge—blink and you’ll miss it.

Bring a tripod if you want silky long exposures. The best perspectives often come from just upstream, but rocks can be slick—step cautiously and wear grippy footwear. Framing through the trees and isolating the smaller ledges can make for surprisingly strong shots.
