Northern wildfire closures and Sunrise vehicle restriction
Wildfire closures remain in effect in Mount Rainier’s northern area because the Grand Park 2 Fire and Wonderland Complex Fires continue to burn there; Sunrise Road is closed to public vehicles. - Grand Park area and trails, including Huckleberry Creek Trail, are closed until further notice. - The Sunrise trails north of Sourdough Ridge, including Mount Fremont, are closed. - The Northern Loop Trail from Berkeley Park to the Wonderland Trail junction near Carbon River is closed, along with Yellowstone Cliffs, Lake James, Fire Creek, and Berkeley Park camps. - The Wonderland Trail from Carbon River Suspension Bridge to Frozen Lake near Sunrise is closed because of the Garda Falls Fire; Dick Creek, Mystic Lake, and Granite Creek camps are closed. Carbon River Camp, Ipsut Creek Camp, and the upper and lower Carbon River crossings remain open. - White River Road, White River Campground, and trails along White River Road are open. Sunrise Road is open to pedestrians and bicyclists only; bring water, food, and supplies and watch for administrative and fire-crew traffic. Check current park conditions before traveling.
