A few minutes is all you need here. Washington Profile View is a small roadside stop along SD-244 that frames George Washington’s face in perfect profile—simple, different, and worth the detour if you’re already visiting the memorial.
From this angle, Washington’s silhouette pops cleanly against the granite, a perspective you won’t get from the main plaza. It’s an ideal “preview on the way in” or a final look as you roll out, and it’s a favorite quick photo stop.
The viewpoint sits just off SD-244, outside the main complex. It’s essentially a pullout with a small paved lot and room for cars, trailers, and buses/RVs. Expect brief stops and light turnover, but these pullouts are small—when they fill, people can get impatient on the highway, so be alert.
This is a minimalist stop: parking and a scenic photo spot. Pets are allowed. There are no restrooms, water, or food here. If you need facilities, use the main memorial area before or after.
Morning light is your friend. The mountain’s southeast aspect often gives Washington’s profile the best contrast early in the day—great for photos and detail. In peak season, come early to avoid heavy traffic on SD-244.
