Pros & cons

PROS

  • Handy lakeside stop for snacks, ice cream, and basic supplies
  • Right by the boat launch and campground with picnic tables

CONS

  • Seasonal with limited hours; closed in the off-season
  • Basic selection and pricier than town; can see lines on busy days

Overview

Tucked on the west end of Lake Crescent, Fairholme Store & Café is the convenient, in-park mini-mart right next to Fairholme Campground and the boat launch. Think grab-and-go snacks, soft-serve, cold drinks, a few groceries, souvenirs, and some camping odds and ends—exactly what you want after a swim or before rolling into camp.

What You'll Find

  • Grab-and-go food and drinks, including ice cream and packaged sandwiches.
  • Small selection of groceries, firewood, camping sundries, and souvenirs.
  • Picnic tables and an easy stroll to the lake’s edge for blue-water views.

Hours & Season

It’s a seasonal operation, typically open from late spring through early fall, with posted hours commonly around 9 am–7 pm. Outside of that window, expect it to be closed—plan accordingly.

Rentals: Know Before You Go

Boat rentals have been offered here in some seasons; availability changes year to year and may be suspended. If paddling is on your must-do list, confirm current offerings and hours before you count on it.

Logistics

  • Parking: Day-use parking is adjacent to the store and boat launch.
  • Restrooms: Use the flush toilets in the adjacent Fairholme Campground; there aren’t restrooms at the store itself.
  • Payments: Policies and connectivity can vary—bring both a card and some cash just in case.
  • Cell service: Often limited in this area.

Wildlife & Setting

This is classic Lake Crescent—clear, cobalt water backed by steep, forested slopes. Keep an eye out for deer along the edges of the campground and birds (bald eagles, ravens, and waterfowl) working the shoreline.

Best Time to Visit

Swing by on weekdays or before late morning for the quickest in-and-out. Midafternoons on summer weekends are the busiest. For photos, late-day light across Lake Crescent is gorgeous—and you’ll still catch the store before it closes.
