Highway 137 construction zone closed near Pohoiki
Do not enter the Highway 137 (Red Road) construction zone between the “Four Corners” intersection and the Pohoiki Road intersection. - The County is restoring roads covered by lava from the 2018 Kīlauea eruption to reconnect Lower Puna communities. - Rough grading of this Highway 137 segment is complete, but the contractor is installing a waterline and processing excavated material for use on the project. - Public access to construction zones is prohibited; obey posted no-trespassing signs. - The project is expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2026. Check the County’s current road update before planning access.
