The gate operates daily 06:00–18:00, with last admission typically around 16:00. Entry is cashless; credit/debit cards are accepted. You can collect pre‑paid permits here, and park fees apply (often included on organized safaris). Bring ID and any payment or permit confirmations.
Expect clean restrooms and plenty of parking. There’s a small canteen/coffee shop for drinks and a gift/souvenir shop, plus an information desk for basic guidance.
Driving in from Ndabaka, the Western Corridor mixes woodland and open savannah. Reports from this approach frequently mention elephants, lions, giraffe, antelopes, and regular hippo sightings—there’s a popular hippo pool not far beyond the entrance. The Grumeti River defines this side of the park, and from roughly May–July the Great Migration pushes through, with dramatic river moments when conditions line up. Outside migration months, game viewing remains good thanks to strong resident wildlife.
A 4×4 is recommended year‑round; rains can turn side tracks muddy. Vehicle registration documents may be checked at the gate.
