Guide
Belly River Campground is a primitive frontcountry campground in mixed aspen forest along the Belly River, 26 km down Chief Mountain Highway from Waterton townsite. Its 24 unserviced sites suit a simple, more secluded stay away from the village; think of it as a base for this end of the park, not a quick trip back for supplies.
Individual sites are first-come, first-served and can’t be reserved. They’re all back-in only, take RVs up to 21 ft (6.4 m), and require tents to sit on pads, so check your vehicle length before arriving. Group camping is separate and must be reserved for groups of 25–100.
There’s no potable water, and cell service is extremely limited. Individual sites have picnic tables, fire pits, gravel parking and food lockers; shared facilities include a kitchen shelter, flush and pit toilets, a wood stove and grey-water disposal. Firewood isn’t provided, and the group area has dry toilets only. The campground is seasonal, usually open from mid-May to early September, weather permitting.
